Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro are three of the biggest names that Hollywood has ever known. Melco Crown Entertainment Group has just made a nice buzz by bringing them together under the direction of Martin Scorsese for a short promotional film. It’s the first time that Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are in one film together. The film, whose trailer was put online a few days ago, will promote the opening of Studio City, a cinematically-themed entertainment, retail, and gaming resort in Cotai, Macau. This project, widely reported on the web these days, illustrates the financial firepower of the giants of Macao.
Only the trailer for this funny short film called “The Audition” has so far been revealed, but the mainstream media did not wait for more to give it the status of the “most expensive advertising of history.” Announced at $70 million, the production budget outshines many feature films. The actors are rumored to have been paid US$13 million each for two short days of shooting. The film, whose synopsis sees the three actors audition, competing for the same role, will be unveiled in full at the launch of Studio City. Studio City is the first of a series of institutions expected to open their doors in Macau in the coming months, including, for example, the Parisian Macau Las Vegas Sands.
