Asian Poker Tour brings the Championships back to Macau at the end of April

Having recently concluded a highly successful event in the Philippines, the Asian Poker Tour heads to the Las Vegas of the East for their next big festival, the APT Macau Championships 2018. This upcoming event will no doubt be very exciting with the Main Event backed by a rich HK$2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The APT Macau Championships 2018 is the second of six championships festivals to be hosted by the prestigious brand this year. The festival runs for twelve days from April 25 to May 6 at Macau Billionaire Poker in Babylon Casino. With the event taking place during Japan’s Golden Week holiday, expect a thunderous Japanese contingent in attendance much like last year’s event in the Philippines with over 100 strong.

Featured Events: Main Event and Championships Event

Headlining the event are two featured tournaments, the Main Event and the Championships Event. Both of these major tournaments run back-to-back, each running a total of five days: two starting days, Day 2, Day 3, and Final 8.

Taking off first is the Main Event which gets underway on April 28 and runs until May 2. This event comes with a highly lucrative HK$2,000,000 guarantee. Buy-in is HK$11,000. Leading up to the event are four on-site satellites. As added reward, the top 20 players of the APT Philippines Championships 2018 Main Event each received one seat to the satellite.

The Championships Event kicks off on the tail end of the main, running from May 2 until closing day May 6. As witnessed in previous editions, the Championships Event draws in a tight field of high ranking pros from the region. Buy-in is HK$22,000. This event also offers four satellites leading up to the event.

One added perk to both of these events is the live stream bonus. Last month, the APT and the Hong Kong Poker Players Association (HKPPA) sealed a deal that would broadcast the Final 8 of both the Main Event and Championships Event in Chinese through the HKPPA’s new Douyu channel. This live stream will definitely provide great entertainment and especially added excitement with avid fans tuning in.

Special Event: Super High Rollers

For the past two years, the Super High Rollers event has had a place in the APT roster at select festivals. With Macau a hub for some of the world’s top pros, this special event is right up their alley. The event runs for two days, from April 25 – 26. Buy-in is HK$200,000.

Side Events

In addition to the majors, the APT festival comes packed with 18 side events for everyone to enjoy. Side events range from HK$1,100 to HK$7,700 with the highest of HK$43,000 for the High Rollers event. Some of the most popular games will of course be offered such as a variety of NLH events, Head Hunter, Monster Stack, and the warm up event which has been renamed the APT Japan Corp Main Event Warm Up.
