Asia Poker League holds its year end finale in Vietnam, presents “Ambassadors Team”

With a new “”Ambassadors Team” and an upcoming event in Da Nang, the Asia Poker League is having a busy month of December.

APL Announces Ambassador Team

According to James Kim, “ the Ambassadors have been selected not only for their poker skills but also for their involvement in the poker community of their own country” Goal is to give to the APL a local presence all across Asia thanks to these figures”.

Each ambassador commits to the team for at least 6 months.

“Iron” Mike Takayama (Philippines)

Takayama is the only Filipino poker champion who has won a coveted WSOP bracelet. He notably took down the $ 1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Super Turbo Bounty event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, June last year. He has over 1.3M USD of live tournament earnings. He currently ranks 3rd in the Philippines All Time Money List.

Tony “Kingfish” Khoang (Netherlands / Vietnam)

A popular figure in the Vietnamese community, Khoang started to play poker 20 years ago. Primarily focusing on Cash Games, he decided to make the transition to tournaments in 2019. He has since started to collect cashes on the Asian Circuit.

Ricky “HKPokerGodFather” Cheung (Hong Kong)

One of the pioneers of the poker community in Hong Kong, Ricky Cheung founded both the Hong Kong Game Club (2007) and Club Pudong (2012). He is a popular figure in his community known for promoting the game via media. He is also Hong Kong’s Poker National Team Captain. Cheung recently had an impressive run in four events at the All Japan Poker Championship (AJPC) Asian Circuit Deepstack which was held in Incheon, Korea, October of this year.

Jack “Sharkdonk” Liew (Singapore)

Singapore Poker League founder, Jack Liew is known to be one of the people who helped grow the Singapore poker community. Since 2014, he has been rallying Singaporean players to help build their game and their poker careers. As of now his SPL has won 10 trophies across multiple poker tours in Asia.

With over  USD 730,000 of live earnings Jack Wu is one of the professional poker players who consistently dominate the scene.

He almost took down two events that were nine days apart when he finished 2nd at APT 2019, in Taiwan after winning the APL 20,000,000 + 2,000,000 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller.

Sumit “Mr. Green” Sapra from India is also expected to join the team.

Asia Poker League finale at Da Nang, Vietnam

The Asia Poker League is set to conclude its year in Vietnam. The prestigious final episode will run from December 12th to 21st at the Risemount premier resort in Da nang.

The APL finale ensured a satisfying year ender, featuring 16 events among which is the main event with a guaranteed prize of VND 8,000,000,000 (USD 345,120).

Other Events

APL starts its finale with a VND 10,000,000 buy-in (USD 430), 2B guaranteed (USD 86,280) kick-off event. After that, the festival will host several events varying from satellites to high roller tournaments.

They present a selection of games that would interest both professionals and enthusiasts alike. Buy ins range from VND 2,300,000 (USD 100) to VND 40,000,000 (USD 1,725).
