Based on The Hendon Mob, Eoghan O’Dea “DrRoche” is one of Ireland’s top ranked players with over $ 3.2M in live tournament winnings. Since his first WSOP cash in 2007, O’Dea has been chasing the golden dream. He got extremely close in 2011 finishing an admirable 6th place at the Main Event for his largest live cash to date of $ 1,720,831. O’Dea’s win today marked his first major career win, one he can surely boast of with his shiny new WSOP signature gold.

Kicking off the final table, everyone was on the hunt for their first WSOP bracelet. In best position was chip leader Lorenzo Bazei “EhUsGuri” however his credentials paled in comparison to Irish pro Eoghan O’Dea “DrRoche” and South African WSOP ring winner Jarred Solomon “Solosalt”. For the latter Solomon, he vowed to stop playing poker once he won his first bracelet. On the other end of the chip rung was Hong Kong’s Chi Chung Ho “chipuker” impressively on his second final table appearance.

Solomon was first to crack heads. During the opening hour, he eliminated Daniel Juncadella “BoooooBie” (9th) then emptied out Bazei (8th) who was initially chunked down by Robert Le Roux “Bobzothejock”. Nital Jethalal “4TheAnimals” delivered the next blow with trip fives cracking aces to send Ruslan Nazarenko “zverrmvp” out in 7th place. O’Dea jumped on board with his first victim in short stacked Chi (6th).

Five handed, Jethalal cleaned out a second player when his QdKhJc10h improved to a straight to dust Solomon’s AcKs9dQh on a board Qs9s7d8c2h. This meant Solomon’s plans of retiring from poker would have to wait. O’Dea followed it up with two running busts, Benjamin Voreland “Wapbap” (4th) then Le Roux (3rd), to face Jethalal at heads up backed by a substantial lead. Jethalal put up a strong fight however ten minutes in, it was O’Dea shipping it with a set of Aces to two pair. In terms of cash, O’Dea won a cool $ 100,944.52. For runner up Jethalal, it was an equally impressive finish, pocketing his largest known cash of $ 81,962.66.
