WSOP #52: $1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Alek Stasiak – $ 273,504.86

Eleven days after his maiden victory at the WSOP #33: $ 1,111 Every 1 for Covid Relief, Canada’s Alek Stasiak “astazz” brought down the hatchet on the WSOP #52: $ 1,000 No Limit Hold’em event to lock up a second WSOP bracelet. Stasiak became the first player to win two bracelets at the ongoing series. He also shipped the $ 273,504.86 top prize and another $ 15,000 WSOP Europe Package Ticket.

Stasiak is quite an inspiration for the series. When he shipped the WSOP #33: $1,111 Every 1 for Covid Relief, it was discovered that he won his seat via a $ 10 qualifier that led to a $ 100 satellite into the event. In essence, Stasiak turned a lowly $ 10 into a mind blowing $ 343,203.53 victory payout. Combining his two big wins, he has now collected a whopping $ 616,708.39.

Kicking off the finals, three of the players – Dejan Kaladjurdjevic “627265”, Jimmy Guerrero “KOBE_BRYANT8”, and Stasiak – were on their second final table appearance of the series. Kaladjurdjevic carried in the largest stack and was looking to improve on his 3rd place finish at The Opener. He didn’t get there, instead bowing out in 3rd place again, however he did pocket a larger payout. For Guerrero, he finished 8th for his 27th WSOP career cash. Also in the mix was WSOP circuit ring holder Jesse Mercado “AAGenius88” who busted in 7th place.

It wasn’t until four handed did Stasiak begin to rise. He got lucky on Denis Peganov “FXOpen” when his dominated AsJs to AdQs spiked a Jack on the board. This bumped him up to second in chips to Kunal Bhatia. Fifteen minutes later, Stasiak assumed command after railing Peganov (4th). Stasiak’s Ah5h found an ace on the board to dust QhQs. Sitting on half the chips in play, Stasiak was brought down to earth by Kaladjurdjevic who doubled up with Ad10c turned top pair against Stasiak’s 10h10d. The Canadian wasted no time recovering the lost chips railing Kaladjurdjevic (3rd) to face Bhatia for the bracelet up 2:1.

Bhatia started out strong, dragging in three big pots to reclaim the chip lead and an advantage of over 2.5:1. Stasiak retaliated with a double up (hand below) then proceeded to bring in multiple pots without a showdown to slide back on top. The final hand arrived with Stasiak behind with KsQh to Bhatia’s Ah4s. When the board ran 3h8d7h3sKd, Stasiak rivered a pair to ship it.
